Anthony P. Stanley of Franklin, TN passed away on the evening of December 21, 2009 at the age of 84. Mr. Stanley was an active member of the US Soccer Federation, the USASA, TN Soccer and the USYSA from 1972 until 2006.
Born in Great Britain, he used his extensive knowledge of soccer to help develop the National Handbook for rules and regulations to be used in the sport in the United States. A registered referee and a National Referee Assessor, he worked extensively in the Tri-State area, especially in Tennessee.
During the 1980's Mr. Stanley hosted ""Soccer Talk"" on the Memphis cable access channel, introducing the public to key figures in the sport of soccer as well as members from the local team, the Memphis ""Rogues"". Mr. Stanley was honored by being the first member inducted into the Tennessee Soccer Hall of Fame.
He leaves behind his wife, Joan Stanley of Franklin, TN, and two daughters, Nicola Stanley of Nashville, TN and Fiona Cheever of Huntsville, AR.
